The directors of Abbey Extrusions, were delighted to sponsor the PIGS (Plastics Industry Golf Society) golf day held in June at Longcliffe Golf Club near Loughborough, Leicestershire. The day started with a light lunch in the clubhouse, prior to teeing off in the afternoon.
A field of 46 competed for the two main trophies. The Healey Trophy 1-15 and the S.A. Goode Cup for the 16-28 category, plus winner and runner up prizes in the visitor section.
We were blessed with perfect and ideal weather conditions, teeing off in bright warm sunshine, coupled with a light breeze.
The Longcliffe course was in perfect condition, being manicured throughout the length and breadth of the Fairways. The rough had been allowed to grow up tall and wide making all the Fairways thin and tight, this meant there was little or no forgiveness for being off line - nor keeping the ball on the short stuff! Consequently scoring was difficult and the winning scores were all relatively low in keeping with the tough but fair course conditions. It was another great PIGS golf event and good to meet all those who participated.
