It’s been a memorable May for the city of Leicester. Last bank holiday Monday saw the realisation of a great piece of sporting history and a proud city celebrating until the early hours of the morning following the Tottenham-Chelsea draw - a draw which guaranteed Leicester City’s winning of the Premier League title.
Even more celebrations were had this Saturday, when the people of Leicester witnessed the handing over of the Premier League trophy at the King Power Stadium after a 3-1 win against Everton. What a journey it has been! From odds stacked against the team at 5000-1 to winning the Premier League, the dramatic and unexpected rise of Leicester’s has grabbed the world’s attention. Saturday saw the streets packed with not only football fans but fellow Leicester residents joining in with the celebrations of a happy city.
If you want another reason to celebrate, Monday 16th May will see the Leicester City open top bus victory parade, which will work its way through the streets of Leicester City Centre to reach Victoria Park, where the Premier League trophy will be raised in front of an excited crowd. Celebrations begin at 6pm, so get in early if you want to secure a comfortable place from which to view the spectacle!
Here at Abbey Extrusions we love getting into the spirit of the game. Half of the company are Leicester City supporters, and Bryan our MD is perhaps the most stalwart ‘Blue Army’ fan of them all! As a season ticket holder, he’s witnessed the amazing rise of Leicester since the very beginning, so it looks like there will be a little bit of banter between himself, our customers and our suppliers over this victory. Check out some of the snaps of the game below to relive the glory.
